On March 25, 2022, Harlingen welcomed its first food truck park, The Moon Rock Food Truck Park & Bar. Over the past year, Christian Zanca, owner of The Moon Rock, has made continuous investments in his food truck park to make it a favorite among locals for unique food options, a variety of live music, and family fun. He is now gearing up for The Moon Rock's one-year anniversary party.
The Moon Rock boasts the biggest bar in the Rio Grande Valley! They have a huge selection of beer, wine, and liquor. You are welcome to drink in either an indoor or outdoor setting.
Several new food trucks have announced that they are coming to The Moon Rock in the next few weeks:
Krab Kingz - A McAllen-based food truck specializing in king crab legs and seafood boils
Teddy's Barbecue - A Weslaco-based food truck known for being named to Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ list
Frankie Flav'z - An RGV favorite for craft burgers and BBQ, with several Valley locations
Additionally, The Moon Rock will have hometown favorite, Marquez Snow Cones, as a seasonal stand during the summer of 2023. For a current list of food trucks, see The Moon Rock's website.
The Moon Rock hosts special events throughout the week, including maker's market on the fourth Sunday of the month; $1 tacos by Tres Gringos Tacos on Wednesdays; and karaoke on Wednesdays.
Live music is also featured nightly at The Moon Rock. They have recently partnered with Boggus Ford of Harlingen and will be renaming their main musical stage as the Boggus Stage.
Family-friendly activities include a half-basketball court, sand volleyball, 1/4-acre dog park, horseshoe pits, and cornhole. To play basketball or volleyball, just ask the bar staff and they will provide you with equipment. Kids are welcome nightly through 10 pm. The Moon Rock is located at 1811 W. Jefferson Ave. in Harlingen. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, 6 pm to 2 am, and Sunday, 6 pm to midnight. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
