Explore Harlingen recently discovered Fragile Planet Wildlife Park. We attended their Fall Fest on October 17, 2021 (runs through November 21, 2021 on Saturdays and Sundays), which consisted of a pumpkin patch, photo ops, petting zoo, camel kissing booth, and pictures with a crocodile. They also had a few vendors selling concessions and jewelry.
Fragile Planet Wildlife Park is new to the Rio Grande Valley, having just moved onto the property at 34748 FM 2480 in Los Fresnos, Texas in July 2021. This location is just a 30-minute drive from South Padre Island, Harlingen, and Brownsville.
On our visit, Explore Harlingen was honored to receive a private tour of their animal sanctuary and amphibian lab. We got to see so many animals including a monkey, bat-eared foxes, otters, an albino porcupine, iguanas, an owl, frogs, tortoises, and the tiniest baby turtles. Tours must be booked on their website in advance; you can choose from morning or evening. Introductory pricing is as follows:
Wildlife Adventure Tour ($45-$55)
Wildlife Alive ($65-$75)
Otter Swim ($135)
The staff at Fragile Planet Wildlife Park are truly passionate about the animals in their care. I have never been to a petting zoo where the goats and bunnies let you walk up to them and pet them easily. The staff let us know of all the various animals and their different personalities, which shows how attentive the staff is and how much they care. Fragile Planet Wildlife Park is a true hidden gem for RGV families and schools to discover.
